HVAC Repair & AC Service in Vestavia Hills, AL

Vestavia Hills is home to some of Birmingham’s most established neighborhoods, and many of those homes are still running the same HVAC system they were built with decades ago. Prantl Heating | Cooling has spent over 50 years helping Vestavia Hills homeowners decide when a repair still makes sense and when it’s time to replace, without the sales pressure. We’re based in Hueytown, about 20-25 minutes away depending on traffic.

Air conditioning is the most common call we get from Vestavia Hills, and it’s not hard to see why. Alabama summers push older systems hard, and a lot of the AC units in Vestavia Hills’ established neighborhoods were never sized for how the home is used today – additions, finished basements, and bonus rooms that didn’t exist when the system was first installed. If your AC runs constantly, short-cycles, or can’t keep the upstairs as cool as the downstairs, that’s usually a sign the system is working harder than it should.

A lot of the calls we get from Vestavia Hills involve systems in the 12-15+ year range – the point where repair costs start competing with replacement costs, and often the point where an older unit is still running on R-22 refrigerant, which hasn’t been manufactured in the U.S. since 2020 and gets more expensive to service every year. Our technicians walk you through the real numbers before you decide anything: what today’s repair costs, what the refrigerant situation looks like if it’s an older system, and what a properly sized AC replacement would mean for your summer energy bills. See our AC installation and furnace installation pages for replacement options.
